COPPA Notice

Last updated June 21, 20262 min read

claura is designed to be used by children with the direct involvement of their parent or legal guardian. This notice describes how we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

The short version

  • • Parents create and control every student account.
  • • We collect only a first name, grade, login credentials, and practice activity.
  • • We never collect a child's last name, email, address, or photo.
  • • We never use children's data for ads or sell it — and you can delete it anytime.

This summary is for convenience — the full notice below is what governs.

  • Home address

A parent or guardian creates and controls all student accounts. When creating their account, the parent affirms they are the child's legal guardian and agrees to our Terms and this Notice. Because every parent account is created through a one-time code sent to the parent's own email address — and we never disclose children's information to any third party — that affirmation is tied to an email address the parent controls, giving verifiable parental consent for claura to collect the information described above for the purpose of providing SHSAT test-preparation services. See our Terms of Service for eligibility details.

How we use children's information

  • To deliver adaptive practice questions and ability estimates.
  • To generate parent-visible diagnostics and progress reports.
  • To provide the AI Socratic tutor (visible to the parent).
We do notuse children's data for advertising, never sell it, and never disclose it to third parties. The only companies that ever touch it are our own service providers (such as our payment and email providers), acting solely on our behalf to operate claura — never for their own purposes.

Parental rights

At any time, parents may review their child's data, correct inaccurate information, or request permanent deletion of all data associated with their child's account. We respond to these requests within 5 business days.
